The Internet giant provided the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, NY, with free internet starting Tuesday-8th, January, 2012. A great PR play that will allow thousands to access the Internet and Google’s products. Search and email are the most used services on the internet, in that order.
However, the free wi-fi are also for students, businesses and residents in the Chelsea area, and will also notably cover outdoor areas of the Fulton Houses-housing projects owned by the NewYork City housing Authority.
But heres the great social and PR capital that Google gets.

The many businesses and students who will access free, secure Internet for as long as Google will park at the Chelsea neighbourhood will talk about it for ages, and continually use the brand. That does not include the media and public impressions that Google has earned in The Big Apple. Even the Mayor, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg attended.
